It’s that time of year again folks, and while Joplinesque and Yo Mama will not be playing at this terrific event we still want to give a shout out and invite you all to attend! Perth’s best dance band, The Commuters, will be rocking the house all night long in support of YAK (Youth Action Kommittee).
Details can be found on the event website here: thenightbeforethenightbeforexmas.com
The event is this Saturday night, December 22nd at the Perth Legion – 7:30pm.

Head’s up folks, Joplinesque will be showcasing our best stuff at Perth’s newest musical hotspot, Around The Corner, on Thursday night, November 29th – 8pm.
We will have our new backup guitar player, Jeff Woods taking things for a spin – this is a show you will not want to miss!
Here we are again, ready to make an appearance in Kingston to bring some classic Janis for you! Joplinesque is pleased to be performing at The Mansion once again to deliver some quality rock n’ roll and blues sounds that Janis and her band are known for.
The band will be doing some of Janis’ less known, but nonetheless catchy tunes, as well as some familiar ones.
Join Joplinesque this Sunday night between 7:00PM – 9:00PM at The Mansion and get ready for a driving show that will give you chills from head to toe!
I just got confirmation that Brian Downey and Maren Molthan will be attending Saturday’s LGBT Pride show and after party – I have been wanting to bring these two to Perth for a show for a long time. Brian is one of my closest musical friends and mentors and Maren has a voice that could seduce even a nun (especially a nun?).
I am really looking forward to playing and singing with these two – not to be missed!
Anyone who remembers jazz at Tiannakeem’s will know what a treat Brian is on stage!
The Pride in Perth after-party will be held at the Perth Restaurant, Google Map below. This show will start around 8:30 or 9pm after the main concert is tied up at PDCI.
Concert ticket holders will get into the after-party at no cost – non-ticket holders will need to pay a cover charge (I think it’s $5).
Joplinesque is so pleased to be asked to celebrate Lanark County’s second official Pride day this Saturday, September 22nd at the Perth and District Collegiate Institute. When LGBT Lanark County found themselves without a headliner for their big Pride celebration concert they gave Joplinesque lead singer, Shelley Montreuil, a call to see if there were any way the group could help.
Thrilled for the opportunity, everyone jumped at the chance to participate in such an exciting event!
Join Joplinesque this Saturday night at PDCI for a show that will rock your world – details and tickets available on the LGBT Lanark County website: http://lgbtlanark.com/event/pride-2012-concert-with-joplinesque/
Joplinesque is thrilled to be heading to Pembroke, Ontario on September 8th to do a fundraising show in memory of Dana Lisa Rondeau – or, as her friends knew her, Dana Dreamer.
Joplinesque lead singer, Shelley Montreuil, grew up with Dana on Chamberlain Street in Pembroke so Montreuil was quite surprised to hear that her childhood friend had received a terminal diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. Certainly a woman so young should not have to even consider crossing this bridge!
Dana had been wanting to get out and see Joplinesque in action – Janis Joplin was one of her favorite performers – so Montreuil didn’t think twice about bringing the show to her as a gesture of good friendship and hopefully as a way to raise some money to help Dana with her expenses.
Unfortunately, Dana did succumb to her leukemia and far too soon … but the party is still on. This will be a celebration of Dana’s life and still an opportunity to raise some funds to help cover her costs.
Most of all, we are certain that at least now, Dana will be able to attend her own party.
Please join us if you can on September 8th at 7:30 pm at the Westside Tap and Grill in Pembroke Ontario. Suggested donation of $10 per person.
Joplinesque is thrilled to be hitting the road on Saturday to head out to Slack’s bar on Church Street in Toronto. We have been working hard to pull together an awesome, rocking, danceable first set to get all the ‘village’ hot spot patrons in the mood for some down and dirty Janis Joplin best-of’s.
Adding Shelley on sax for this set is key to making the evening rhythmically roll on and will allow Josh (keyboards) an opportunity to spread his vocal wings (he has a beautiful voice). Old standards like “Proud Mary” and “Mustang Sally” as well as Big Mama Thornton’s version of “Hound Dog” will allow us to build a strong foundation for what is truly going to be a spectacular Janis Joplin frenzy.
Mark your calendar, book your baby sitter, feed the dog and hit the road to join Joplinesque at Slack’s Saturday night – this is a show you won’t want to miss!

Our first Evening with Janis Joplin show went swimmingly and we are stoked about presenting our second performance in Almonte next Saturday, March 31st. The repertoire is expanded, the show is streamlined and the animals are eager for the help!
We have a special guest lined up to make a cameo appearance – no hints here, come out to the show and you will be the first to know who will share the stage with Shanis.
It’s going to be terrific!
